About Designer Fund

The mission of Designer Fund is to help designers create businesses with meaningful impact. We invest between $100K – $1M in tech startups that are design leaders including Stripe, Gusto, Altschool, Omada Health, Framer and over 20 more. With every investment, our goal is to help create better designed products and services in the world, especially in markets that traditionally lack design innovation like finance, education and health.

To further our mission, we produce Bridge, a professional development program that connects experienced designers with top startups and our community in San Francisco. Through weekly workshops, dinners, and talks, we share design best practices across our portfolio and partner companies, including Dropbox, Pinterest, Eventbrite, Asana, and Medium. Our goal is to help designers develop lasting relationships and to accelerate their growth as great leaders.

We’ve produced 5 Bridge programs to date and now have nearly 100 Bridge Alumni who were selected from thousands of applicants. We’ve hosted 130+ curated events to date, such as Source and Women in Design. In the past few years we’ve also published a range of content for designers, including tips, interviews, ebooks, and guides that have reached over a million page views. We want to continue increasing access to the best design knowledge — this is why we’re looking for a producer who can help us scale our programs and impact.



As our producer, you’ll play a key role in owning everything it takes to run Bridge and shaping the future of professional design education. This will be a unique and highly rewarding opportunity to be immersed in the heart of San Francisco’s design in tech community.

You’ll be responsible for:

Designing and Producing Bridge — Creating professional development workshops, talks and experiences for designers to share best practices and advance in their careers.

Partner and Designer Relations— Cultivating relationships with exceptional designers at every stage of their career and helping our partners build and educate the best design teams.

Program Strategy and Process — Everything from defining goals, to managing multiple project tracks, evaluating our performance and researching how to evolve the program, to thinking of ways to improve our process with templates, checklists, and tools.

We’ll need you to manage projects related to the areas outlined above but we don’t expect you to do everything on your own. In many cases, you’ll assemble creative briefs and teams on demand. This is a dynamic role that will require you to juggle multiple balls at once and continuously iterate.


Sample projects:

  • Conducting interviews with design leaders in our community in order to design the most valuable design curriculum
  • Reaching out to leaders to speak at Bridge and working with them to craft their talks
  • Designing weekend experiences for Bridge designers to help build relationships away from our work
  • Defining and maintaining the language we use to talk about Bridge and our community
  • Helping our partner companies build their design teams by connecting them with Bridge applicants who would be a good fit
  • Guiding designers through the interview process
  • Managing everything about Bridge application launch day, from tooling and site updates to marketing and promotion
  • Designing and implementing a Bridge evaluation system
  • Transparently tracking projects and providing status updates to the team
  • Defining the quarterly OKRs for Bridge
  • Managing the longer term Bridge roadmap and division of responsibilities

Who we’re looking for:

You don’t have to be a formally trained designer to be our producer but you do need to love design and have some design thinking skills. Ideally you have at least 2 years of professional experience and expertise in some of the following areas: product design, service design, design education, event production, marketing, writing, content strategy, program/project/account management, PR, or recruiting. As when you’re joining any small team, you must have a positive, self-starter attitude and knack for aligning resources to get projects done from start to finish.

We’re ideally looking for fulltime candidates, but we’ll also consider candidates who are part-time and can eventually transition to fulltime. We’re looking for a minimum 1 year commitment starting as soon as possible. Ideally you’d join our team for multiple years so we can invest in your career growth.
